Record Guidelines

What we look for in a record attempt, from measurement through to final review.

Record Measurement

Every record must be defined by a clear, objective unit of measurement — time, distance, quantity, weight or another verifiable value. Vague or subjective claims cannot be reviewed, so applicants are asked to specify exactly how their achievement will be measured before their attempt takes place.

Evidence

Applications should be supported by evidence appropriate to the record — commonly video footage, photographs, measurement documentation, and independent witness statements. The exact evidence required varies by record type; our team will confirm specific requirements during review.

Witnesses

Independent witnesses — people with no personal stake in the outcome — help confirm that an attempt was conducted as described. Where practical, we recommend at least two independent witnesses for record attempts.

Verification

Our review team checks submitted evidence against the stated record criteria. This may involve requesting additional documentation, clarifying measurement methodology, or asking follow-up questions before a record is confirmed.

Safety

Applicants are responsible for ensuring their attempt is conducted safely and in compliance with any applicable local laws, venue rules, or regulations. Yazhi does not supervise attempts in person and does not assume liability for how an attempt is carried out.

Attempt Preparation

We recommend planning your attempt well in advance: confirm your venue, arrange your witnesses and measurement method, and review your evidence plan against these guidelines before your attempt date.

Record Standards

Records are expected to be genuinely challenging, clearly measurable, and safely achievable. Records that are trivial, unsafe, or impossible to verify may not be accepted.

Application Process

Applications are submitted through our seven-step online form. After review, applicants may be asked for more information before their record is confirmed, published, or, where appropriate, declined.
